Óculos para estudar no computador ou no tablet: como escolher
Atualizado a Equipa LenBlu®
Notes on a laptop, online classes and hours at the library: here is what to keep in mind.
What are glasses for studying?
The phrase can mean two different things:
- Prescription glasses, which correct vision so you can see well at different distances. If you struggle to read the board or your notes, a professional eye exam is the place to start.
- Non-prescription glasses with a blue light filter, made for hours at a screen and for people with normal vision or who wear contact lenses.
This article is about the second kind. For what the filter can and can't do, read Do blue light glasses work?.
What to look for in glasses for studying
A clear lens
You need to read notes, mark up PDFs and watch videos without a color cast. A clear lens with a built-in filter keeps colors natural, and you can wear it in class, at the library and on video calls.
Light weight
Comfort matters when you wear glasses for many hours in a row. A light, flexible frame is easy to forget you have on, and it sits fine with headphones.
Non-prescription, if you see well or wear contacts
Ready to wear, with no prescription needed. They work over contact lenses.
A design you like
If you'll wear them in class, in the library and in group calls, they have to be glasses you like. Style affects whether you actually use them. LenBlu® Clear and Matte Black are two versatile options.
Study-session habits
General information, not a treatment:
- The 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look at something about 6 meters (20 feet) away for 20 seconds. More in our 20-20-20 guide.
- Study blocks. 50 minutes of focus, then 10 minutes away from the screen.
- Good lighting. Use room light. Avoid studying in the dark with only the screen lit.
- A good distance. Keep your laptop 50 to 70 cm (20 to 28 in) away, with the top of the screen at eye level or a little lower. A stand or a pile of books can raise it.
- Zoom in. Enlarge your PDFs instead of moving closer to the screen.
- Blink on purpose. We blink less at a screen. Close your eyes for a few seconds during breaks.
- An evening routine. Switch your devices to warm light, and put them away before bed. Downtime is part of studying too.
One pair or two?
Some students like a pair at home, one at the library and one in the backpack, or one to share with roommates. The Duo Pack has two frames: €49.99.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use them to study on a tablet or a phone?
The filter is part of the lens, so it is there on any screen: computer, tablet, phone or TV.
Can I wear them in class?
Yes. The lens is clear, so you can wear them indoors and out like any glasses.
What if I find it hard to see the board or to read up close?
That needs a professional eye exam. Non-prescription glasses don't correct vision.
