Computerbrillen: So findest du deine Bildschirmbrille
Aktualisiert am LenBlu® Team
If you spend eight hours or more a day in front of a screen, it's worth choosing your glasses with some care. Here is what to look at.
What are computer glasses?
Glasses made for screen use. They usually have lenses with a blue light filter, and sometimes an anti-reflective coating. They exist with and without prescription. If your vision is fine, a common choice is non-prescription blue light glasses like LenBlu®. For the full picture, read our blue light glasses guide.
What to look for
A clear lens that keeps colors natural
Amber lenses filter more, but they tint the whole image. If you work with color, or just want to see your screen as it is, a clear lens with a built-in filter is the better choice for daytime.
Weight and comfort
Long days call for a light frame that doesn't press on your nose or behind your ears. LenBlu® frames are TR90, light and flexible, at about 17 grams. They also sit comfortably with headphones.
Size
Glasses sizes are given as three numbers: lens width, bridge, temple length. LenBlu® is 53-18-138, a medium. Check the numbers on your current glasses to see how a new pair will fit. More in What glasses size am I?.
A design you'd wear every day
Many computer glasses look like office equipment. If you like the look, you'll wear them to meetings and out too. LenBlu® has a classic square frame in two finishes: Clear and Matte Black.
If you wear a headset
For calls or long game sessions, look for straight, thin temples that don't press on your ears, a light frame and a clear lens, so colors stay true. And take breaks between rounds: look away from the screen, blink, and look into the distance for a few seconds.
Setting up your screen
- Distance: 50 to 70 cm (20 to 28 in), about an arm's length.
- Height: the top of the screen at eye level or a little lower.
- Light: avoid windows right behind or in front of the screen, and don't work in a dark room.
- Brightness and text: match brightness to the room, and make the text bigger instead of leaning in.
- The 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something about 6 meters (20 feet) away for 20 seconds. More in our 20-20-20 guide.
One pair or two?
Plenty of people like a pair for home and another for the office, or just a different look. The Duo Pack gives you both frames: €49.99.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wear them over contact lenses?
Yes. Plain, non-prescription lenses can be worn over your contacts.
Do they work with my phone and tablet?
The filter is part of the lens, so it is there on any screen: computer, phone, tablet, TV or console.
Do they replace an eye exam?
No. If you have persistent discomfort, headaches or blurred vision, see a vision professional.
